BrainBuddy is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our Chrome extension.

Data Collection

BrainBuddy does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. We do not track your usage, browsing history, or any personal information.

Local Storage

• API keys are stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage API
• We never have access to your API keys
• You can view and delete your stored API keys at any time through the extension settings
• No data leaves your device except when you explicitly use the extension's features

Text Processing

When you select text and choose an action (Explain, Summarize, etc.):

• The selected text is sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider
• We do not intercept, log, or store any selected text
• Communication occurs directly between your browser and the AI provider's API
• We act only as a facilitator for this communication

BrainBuddy integrates with the following third-party AI services. When you use these services, their respective privacy policies apply:

Permissions Explained

• storage: Enables local storage of your API keys on your device
• host_permissions: Enables communication with AI provider APIs to process your requests

Data Security

Your API keys are stored securely using Chrome's encrypted storage mechanism. They remain on your device and are never transmitted to us or any third party except the AI provider you choose to use.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• View your stored API keys at any time
• Delete API keys through the extension settings
• Uninstall the extension to remove all stored data
• Choose which AI provider to use
• Toggle the extension on/off at any time

Children's Privacy

BrainBuddy does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The extension is designed for educational purposes and can be used by students, but we do not collect any personal information from any users.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
